  • About Hardwood Flooring

Hardwood Flooring is available in many different types, the two main types being solid and engineered. Solid Hardwood Flooring is just as it sounds, a solid, typically ¾ inch thick, wooden plank that is offered prefinished or unfinished. Solid Hardwood Flooring is available in many different species, some harder than others, making some species less susceptible to dings, dents, and scratches. Solid Hardwood Flooring will expand and contract and can cause cupping, buckling, warping, and abnormal gaps if not properly installed over a proper moisture tested substrate. Engineered Hardwood Flooring is made from layers of glued together wood and then a real wood surface is glued to the top. Engineered Hardwood Flooring is a more stable product and is not as sensitive to moisture and temperature changes as Solid Hardwood Flooring. Engineered Hardwood Flooring also generally cost less than Solid Hardwood Flooring making it more appealing to budget minded consumers.
